THE STONES -  I have a friend that likes to say that rocks have the answer to everything.   I may not be completely convinced of that, but there is a lot of wisdom in the stones.  In this set of essays, I am going to delve into the symbology and metaphysics of the stones.  It is important to note that this is based on both research into other's work and my own experience.  Like most guides, use this as a starting point.  Your own instincts and preferences are always your best guide.  This information should not be taken as medical or psychological advice.  If you appreciate my efforts, you can support me by clicking on  By Me a Coffee and leaving me a tip.

Some of the sources I use for information on stones are:
The Book of Stones by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian
The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall
Internet google searches for the stone
   The sites I usually use are: thecrystalcouncil.com, gia.edu, tinyrituals.com, and thespruce.com.

THE MAGIC OF MOONSTONE

6/6/2022

The magic of the moon in my hand
When I dive your depths where do I land

Here in the northern hemisphere, spring transitions into summer in June,  The days are warm and the nights are pleasantly cool.  It is the perfect time to go star gazing or sit in the light of the moon.  I think that makes moonstone the perfect birthstone for June, and our ancestors thought so too.  This stone of love and fertility is a nice match to the wedding month.

Moonstone is a potassium aluminum silicate with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5.  Its most common color is a dreamy translucent white, but it can come in a variety of other colors, including peach, blue, grey, rainbow, and black. No matter what color it is, when it is brought to a polish, this stone draws you into the magic of its watery depths.  This beautiful gem can be found in Sri Lanka, Madagascar, India, and the US.

Like the month of June, moonstone symbolizes abundance, fertility, love, and renewal.  It is a stone of new beginnings and hope.  Like the moon and tides, moonstone symbolizes the cycles of change.  It is a sacred stone in India and of the high priestess.  It is considered to be a stone of the goddess and the sacred feminine.

Energetically, moonstone is the stone of moon magic, the divine feminine, and alignment between the earth and moon.  It is a stone of mystery and intuition, and may help in the development of psychic gifts and empathy.  Some believe that it can be used in prophecy, and gaining wisdom and knowledge.  Like the moon and tides, moonstone carries the energy of the cycle of life and transformation.  Many people find that the moonstone aids in exploring the inner depths of the self that are hidden deep in the subconscious, making it an ideal stone for shadow work.

Moonstone is one of my favorite gems.  I find that the depth and mystery of the stone draws me deep into its magic.  Working with the stone is both soothing and enchanting.  While I'm working with it, the rest of the world fades into the background, and the moonstone and I seem to be collaborating to create an energy flow that enhances the stone and its connection to the person wearing it.  When I wear moonstone, it feels as if I'm connecting to multiple layers of energy flow and the aspects of the cycles around me.  One of my favorite pieces of jewelry blends black moonstone with labradorite  for a truly heady experience.

However you choose to add moonstone to your life, its beauty and mystery are sure to be an intriguing addition to your collection.
