THE STONES -  I have a friend that likes to say that rocks have the answer to everything.   I may not be completely convinced of that, but there is a lot of wisdom in the stones.  In this set of essays, I am going to delve into the symbology and metaphysics of the stones.  It is important to note that this is based on both research into other's work and my own experience.  Like most guides, use this as a starting point.  Your own instincts and preferences are always your best guide.  This information should not be taken as medical or psychological advice.  If you appreciate my efforts, you can support me by clicking on  By Me a Coffee and leaving me a tip.

Some of the sources I use for information on stones are:
The Book of Stones by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian
The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall
Internet google searches for the stone
   The sites I usually use are: thecrystalcouncil.com, gia.edu, tinyrituals.com, and thespruce.com.

The emerald is usually referenced as the birthstone for May.  It is a green form of beryl, beryllium aluminum silicate, with a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8.  The green pigment of the emerald comes from traces of chrome or vanadium in the matrix with the most desirable colors ranging from bluish green to a rich deep green.  This hexagonal crystal has a history of use buried deep in the mists of time everywhere the crystal can be found, including North America, South America, Egypt, and the Middle East.

The symbolism of the emerald, in many ways, mirrors the season.  It is the stone of heart and unconditional love.  It speaks of patience, emotion, and compassion.  Like spring, the emerald signifies hope in the future, renewal, and growth.  As the land comes into abundant new growth, we see that abundance and potential reflected in this beautiful green stone.  It has long been associated with royalty and prosperity.

It has also been used by healers and energy workers for its metaphysical properties. It has been used to promote growth, love, and rebirth of the spirit.  It is believed to heal the heart chakra, clearing emotional baggage, and bringing good self esteem and confidence.  It is a stone for those seeking divine love and to stay centered in the heart's wisdom and inspiration.  It has been used to help focus intention and raise consciousness, to enhance psychic ability, and gathering of knowledge and wisdom.  It is believed to reveal truth aid in memory and prophecy.

So, whether you are looking for love or truth, prophecy or abundance, stability in your journey, or just a beautiful gem, the emerald is worth seeking out.
