Flint Ridge Flint Pendant
Flint Ridge flint is a spectacular stone from Ohio, USA. This specimen is no exception. The red, peach, and golden yellow of this gem show the lighter range of colors of this gem. This 1.25 inch by .75 inch specimen is wrapped with 14 gauge copper wire to create this pendant. Wear it as a necklace on the included leather cord or use it t create your own unique jewelry.
This "flint" is actually a highly workable churt that has historically been knapped or chipped into arrow heads, blades and scrapers by the ancient inhabitants of the region. This small vein of flint was so prized, that the land around the vein was considered sacred ground and acted as a gathering place for the region. Ancient tools from this flint have been found all over the continental US and into southern Canada. At this time, most of the flint from this vein is from the Miller mine or the Nether's mine.
