Medium Hand Made Wool Belt with Buckle
The 36" belts are hand crochet from hand spun Navaho-Churro sheep's wool. Whether made with a oyster shell from the US gulf coast, or a manufactured buckle, these belts are one of a kind works of wearable art.
I started raising sheep because I had a large yard that I quickly got tired of mowing. I chose the Navaho-Churro as one of the breeds because of its unique history. The Churro sheep were brought to the Americas by the Spanish conquistadors and were acquired by the Navaho. Over years of breeding in the south west US, this original stock became the first American breed of domestic sheep. The wool is very durable making beautiful rugs, or belts.
