73

73 is the flip side of the perfect number, 37, and has some of the same symbolic meanings of 37.  It too is a prime number, as it can only be divided by one and itself and when the digits are added together, you get 10 or 1, the beginning and the end.  In this page, I am going to briefly discuss herbs and other plants, and some of their uses and their symbolism.  If you appreciate my efforts, you can support me by clicking on Buy Me a Coffee and leaving me a tip. Thank you.

Shield the home, heal the body
Powerful plant from humble beginnings
With the faith of a seed mountains move
From tiny steps, all great things are born

Mustard is a member of the brassica family that is closely related to cabbage, broccoli, and kale.  The domesticated form of this plant was probably developed 5,000 years ago in the Himalayan mountains of India.  From there, it spread into the Mediterranean, North Africa, and then to Europe before being brought to North America by European colonists.

This spicy plant is grown in home gardens primarily for its young foliage which is harvested for greens, but it can also be grown for its flowers and seeds as well.  The young leaves are a nutritional boost in salads, soups, stews, and other dishes.  The seeds are used as a spice and carry most of the medicinal value.

Mustard is a warming and stimulating herb that is used for its ability to drive blood to inflamed areas, stimulate digestion, and stimulate the immune system.  It is used to treat coughs, colds, and congestion.  It also acts as a diuretic, helping to flush toxins out of the system.

Mustard is a highly energetic and symbolic plant.  Most of the worlds traditions have a version of the mustard seed parable.  "If you have but the faith of a mustard seed" is a statement of hope and faith, and the primary symbolic significance of mustard.  It is a gentle reminder that all great accomplishments begin as tiny seeds of hope, faith, and action.

Mustard is a very protective plant.  Its primary action is as a repellent of evil, negativity, and ill intent.  Then, after the evil is chased out, good luck and abundance is able to come back into the space.  When you carry mustard seeds, it is supposed to protect you from illness and evil.

So, if you have a little bit of space, grow a bit of mustard.  It might just protect you from that next challenging thing that heads your way.  At the very least, you will have a nutritious salad to eat.
