THE STONES -  I have a friend that likes to say that rocks have the answer to everything.   I may not be completely convinced of that, but there is a lot of wisdom in the stones.  In this set of essays, I am going to delve into the symbology and metaphysics of the stones.  It is important to note that this is based on both research into other's work and my own experience.  Like most guides, use this as a starting point.  Your own instincts and preferences are always your best guide.  This information should not be taken as medical or psychological advice.  If you appreciate my efforts, you can support me by clicking on  By Me a Coffee and leaving me a tip.

Some of the sources I use for information on stones are:
The Book of Stones by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian
The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall
Internet google searches for the stone
   The sites I usually use are: thecrystalcouncil.com, gia.edu, tinyrituals.com, and thespruce.com.

Rose of the desert

Protecting the homeland

Beautiful, delicate, and mystical, the desert rose can be found in most of the worlds deserts, including Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Tunisia, and Afghanistan.  Most of these stone formations are fairly recent being formed when selenite, or gypsum, interacts with sand, wind, and water.  These interactions form these beautiful but fragile stone rose formations.  The desert rose of Oklahoma is similar except that they were formed 250 million years ago when the land was covered by a shallow sea.  While beautiful, these stones are easily damaged by rough handling or excessive moisture.

According to one Native American legend, the desert rose is carved by the fallen warriors that have returned from the world of spirit.  They then spread these roses around the world to protect the spirit's homeland.

According to another legend, each desert rose contains a guardian spirit.  When one of these roses finds its way into your life, it is believed that this spirit was sent to guard you.

These beige to ivory stones are believed to hold a number of other qualities besides protection.  They are known as a cleansing stone that can cleanse your auric field and cleanse and charge other crystals.  Their high energetic vibration is believed to remove blockages and clear the environment of negativity.

Some practitioners find that the desert rose promotes mental clarity and focus.  It is an aid to self-expression and stamina.  It is sometimes used as an aid for meditation, grounding, and manifesting your desires.  It may help you regain your balance and understand the events of your life.

This is a highly spiritual stone that connects to your inner consciousness.  It has been known to enhance spiritual powers.  It is used as an aid to remembering past lives and it may enhance third eyes perception.  Desert rose is a good stone to dissolve self-imposed negative patterns and release old patterns.

My first experience with the desert rose was on a family trip round the South West of the United States when I was young.  I was immediately captivated by the mysterious and mystical formations.  I had to take one home with me.  I ended up handling it so much that I eventually eroded the floral formation.  Now I know why I was so captivated by this stone.

While I don't wrap the desert rose, here is a link to my other wrapped stones.
